I got it!

i-got-it

I got it! I got it! I got the OE Tech position!  Two weeks ago I applied for, and last Friday I tested for, an Order Entry Technician position at Medco.  I currently work as a Header Entry technician, which are the people who look at the addresses, and patients’ names, and doctors, etc., but who do not read the actual prescription.  An OE Tech actually enters the drug on the script, along with the directions for taking the drug.  After visiting the OE tech, the rx goes to two pharmacists who verify the drug and fill it before it is sent out.  I think it will be an over $4.00 an hour pay raise (either two Mondays from now or at the end of December) and it’s a new shift.  It is a M-R 2-1230 shift. I get a shift differential with that one which should add at least another $1 to my hourly wage.  No more waking up at 430 in the morning!  No more working Saturdays unless it’s for OT!  And OE gets a heck of a lot more OT than HE does.  And not as much VTO (voluntary, unpaid time off).  Yay!

We were given VTO today at  about 12:20 and since I was sitting next to my friend Taryn and we have a pact to not go on VTO anymore, I stayed for the rest of the day.  We got a lot of crappy stuff to work on but it lasted for most of the day.  We were actually getting work from Monday and Sunday, if you can believe that!  Then we were getting tons of checks to process, something which doesn’t count towards our quota.  I had heard that I would hear about the position in one of two ways – a slip of paper in my mailbox at work or being paged and informed.  I got back from the bathroom at about 514 and not even two minutes later I’m paged to call 0.  So I call and Julie informs me that I passed the OE skills assessments and when can I start the 28th or the Monday after.  I tell her I’m on vacation next week, so the following Monday it is, as long as management approves of it.  I haven’t a clue as to what schedule I’ll be working during training or how many people are being trained along with me.  As far as I’ve been able to find out I’m the only one who took the assessments, though Julie was doing a tour of what looked like potential new employees today, so there could be more people than just me.

I’m so happy, excited, and relieved.   And my parents (well, at least my Mom) is proud of me.  :D

Thursday 13 – edition 11

thursday-13-edition-11
Thirteen things I want to do, but cannot:

1. Make cupcakes. I make them with chocolate chips, chocolate cake, and white frosting. Very yummy.
2. Take a shower. We have no hot water.
3. Do laundry. Someone else is using the machines.
4. Go to the grocery store. I have to wait for my phone to charge. Then I have to wait for my bluetooth to charge.
5. Make chocolate chip cookies.
6. Go visit my father and get veggies and sugar free flavored water.
7. Stop arguing with Tom. He doesn’t agree with my low carb diet.
8. Get a new theme. I can’t think of any good ideas.
9. Get my car fixed. I have the money, but I don’t think I’ll have the time for another week and a half.
10. Feel full for more than two hours.
11. Have Tom come home this weekend.
12. Go fun shopping.
13. Get a car for Tom.

Working towards a new job

working-towards-a-new-job

I’m out with Tom today at Subway when I get a call.  It’s Julie from Medco.  Remember that OE Tech position I applied for?  Well, on Friday I take the typing and skills test for it.  I have a packet of info to study, which I luckily got on Monday.  We had some downtime and I was reviewing the information I had copied from the OE Tech job aids and the girl sitting next to me told me about the packet of info available from the receptionist.  I went and got it.  Good thing, too, since the next time I will be in at work to be able to get it is Friday, which is when I take the test.  Especially since I take the test at 9:15 am and 9 am is when the receptionist comes in.  Yeah, that would not be good.  So here’s hoping!

Triglycerides

triglycerides

Last week I had a blood test.  A lipid panel and a fasting blood sugar.  I don’t have diabetes, thank God.  Well, at least not yet.  I do have high triglycerides.  Normal triglycerides are 150-199.  High is 200-499.  Mine was around 416.  Not good.  So I have orders from my doctor.  30 minutes of exercise daily and a low carb diet.  I don’t want to be on a low carb diet.  I like carbs!  My favorite food is pasta.  No more pasta for me. :(  Chocolate, cakes, cookies – all things I love.  Now against the rules.  So I had to go grocery shopping.  Can’t use the tuna help I got for me.  Ground beef, hamburgers, chicken, asparagus, apples, green peppers, ranch dressing, steamed veggies, and Rubbermaid containers.  Tomorrow I’m going to Giant Eagle and I’ll be buying bags of salad (on sale bogo), strawberries (again, bogo), and ham.  I’m sure I’ll think of it.  I’m going to save up for a water purifier for the tap (cheaper than bottled).  I hate diet stuff.  I can’t stand NutraSweet.  It has a horrible aftertaste. Although I am planning on buying Crystal Light.  Mom gave me a pitcher I can use for that.  I will say that all that exercising will help me to lose weight, which is one of my goals.  I had about 80 lbs I’d like to get rid of.  I lost 13 lbs over the summer (it’s amazing what happens when you get rid of pills that make you gain weight!) so I’m off to a good start.  And that was without exercising.  I’m also going to switch to whole milk.  Mom has a book on a low carb diet and it says no carrots, no grapes, and no low fat milk.  I have a fat/carb guide to restaurants I need to track down. I can keep that in my purse.  Did I mention that I don’t like the taste of water?  I don’t.  I drink it at work, though, so that’s a start.  Now I have to start drinking it at home.  Sometimes life just sucks.

Well, I did it

well-i-did-it

On Tuesday right before I left I heard that HR had posted an OE Tech position.  I was unable to look at it that day and Wednesday I didn’t work. I heard it was a night position, which worried me a bit, but I was planning on looking into it.  I am a header entry tech. I enter the demographic information in a prescription order – the name, address, doctor’s name, doctor’s address, patient’s name and dob, etc.  I don’t deal with the actual scripts.  OE techs enter the prescription information.  At least three people will look at the prescription – the OE tech and two pharmacists.  OE techs get paid more and have what I think is a more challenging position.  I checked out the board this morning and lo and behold there was an OE tech position posted.  It’s M-R 2-12:30.  I like an evening shift – I had one when I worked for the post office through Manpower.  Evening shifts also get a shift differential of 7.5%, which is helpful.  It would mean no more working Saturdays.  So far, as long as I’ve been there, there has been no OE VTO and most days OE has OT.  This makes me happy.  It will be a couple of months before I can work OT, if I get the position, but I would still be getting that shift differential.  I’m hoping and praying that I get it.  I just applied (I had to use Tom’s email since it wouldn’t accept mine!) so wish me luck!  I have to take a test before I find out if I get it.  The whole process should take about a month, I think.  I’ll be crossing my fingers!

I’m really not too sure how accurate this is…

im-really-not-too-sure-how-accurate-this-is

Hi there, here is the interpretation of the astrological chart that you asked for.   Thank you for visiting the Astrolabe WEB site at http://alabe.com This report has been created especially for you. It represents your Unique picture at the time you were born and at the place you were born. If you are unsure of the exact time of day of your birth (or the date or the place), the reading will probably not seem as accurate as it could be in certain places, but other parts will seem to be very appropriate. You will notice at certain places in the reading that contradictory information seems to be given. This is to be expected, because the personality of most people is extremely complex. For example, at times we are quite shy and at other times we are very aggressive, and so forth. You will also notice that, at certain points in the reading, certain patterns may be repeated over and over, especially in a longer more detailed report than this one. This is also to be expected. This simply means that your horoscope has an extremely strong focus on this particular pattern and that you should pay extra close attention to what is said about it. Now, on with your Report!

Name: Krissy
October 1 1979

Pittsburgh, PA

Rising Sign is in 15 Degrees Libra
Very attractive and popular, your charm helps you to get your own way and prevents others from getting angry with you. “Peace and harmony at all costs” is your battle cry. You always try to ameliorate or to cosmetically hide any physical ugliness or any angry feelings between people. Flashy, but not gaudy, you prefer to dress elegantly. You generally have good taste in music, art and literature. Beware of the tendency to compromise yourself in your attempt to be agreeable at all times. A bit of a social butterfly, at times you can be vain and lazy. For the most part, however, you are gracious and affectionate, and your refined and aristocratic demeanor serves as a role model to others.
