Laundry love . . . and hate

laundry-love-and-hate

Ah – there’s nothing like fresh, clean clothes. The yummy smell, the soft feel – it’s wonderful. Unfortunately, it requires us to do laundry. Laundry is something that I do not like to do. It takes forever (well, hours at least) and is very boring. You have to babysit it if you are like me and are having problems getting a laundry room key. I requested one on Saturday. You know, four days ago. How much time and effort does it take to copy a key? You grab the key, drive on down to Home Depot or your local hardware store, have it made, and drive back. Less than a half hour right? They’re charging me $20 for the stupid key so you’d think they would have had it done by Monday or Tuesday. I expected to get a call on one of those days. Did I? No. Of course not. Why? Well, when I checked today I was told that they were out of blanks and waiting for supplies to come in. *sigh* So I packed up all of my laundry and headed to Mom’s. There’s definitely part of me that just wants to stay here until it is all done tonight, but that’s not going to happen. I’m too tired. So I get to come back tomorrow. Lovely. Two days ruined by this mess. I’m just hoping to get it all done early tomorrow and be back to the apartment in enough time to get some sleep. I don’t want to be up late when I have to work the next morning. Does someone want to do this laundry for me? I sure as heck don’t want to do it. I guess I won’t be letting it pile up as much anymore. I need to do it more often. I’d go home now, but I need to let the sheets dry. *sigh* I’m off to transfer clothes from Mom’s clothes basket to mine for the trip home. Sound like fun? It’s not. And it’s supposed to rain tomorrow. Yippee. Why can’t clothes clean themselves?

My mother always joked she was looking forward to when I brought my laundry home to wash, but I never did. Once I moved out, I moved hundreds of miles away.

When I lived in an apartment, I frequently took my laundry to a nearby laundry mat and dropped it off! It was so worth not having to wait on it.

For me doing laundry is nothing. I just throw it in the machine, push the bouton continue blogging or read or watch TV, when finished, take it out, throw everything in the dryer, blog read or watch TV, when finished I fold the whole stuff (which is the only real work) and put it in the wardrobes.

I think that if I had my own washer and dryer it would be different. Heck, it may be different if I just had a key to the laundry room. Dragging it to Mom’s really sucks.

I agree, nothing better than fresh clean clothes! Makes me wonder why I don’t enjoy doing the laundry then… Hope you get a key soon!
