I’d never go back – or would I?

Most people would never go back to high school. It remains one of the most hated periods of times in human history.  I’ll admit high school did have its problems.  I was teased, made fun of, pushed out, etc.  But there is a lot I would go back to do.  Singing is number one.  I was involved in several singing projects.  I love to sing.  And I’ve been told that I’m good at it.  Doing musicals was another.  While Anything Goes was fun, but not a blast, Godspell was a blast.  I had activities, I did things, I saw people. I was braver and more whole.  College is when I fell apart.  I’d never go back and go through those years of college again.  Well, maybe the first two years.  I feel trapped in world without light a lot of the time.  I’m getting some music back.  I can listen to my iPod at work.  Evita, Wicked, Joseph and Godspell have all made it through the mp3 player, some more than once.  I can’t wait to get a hold of Les Mis and Phantom and Cats.  Music is great and all, but musicals are the best.  They tell stories.  Maybe that’s one of the reasons I like country music so much – there are a lot of stories. I want to go see musicals.  I want to be in musicals.  I want to sing!  But I don’t.  I don’t know where to go.  I don’t know who to ask.  People have said try community theater.  I don’t want plays.  I want music.  Dreams that will remain unfufilled.  So yes, I would go back to high school.
