“Something else I read the other day… It was a quote from a movie (I forget the movie, now — it was something I hadn’t seen) where one of the characters said that people get married because they need “a witness to their lives” — someone to care about the details, however mundane. I hadn’t thought of it before, but I’m pretty sure that’s also why people blog, rather than writing in a private journal. We want our lives to be witnessed. We want someone to notice the details.”
